New Years Day can arguably be the most popular “stay in bed” day of the year. After after all the celebrating, sparkling and dancing the night away on New Years Eve, it’s sometimes tough to get yourself moving in the new year. But to make sure you start off 2016 right, we have your survival kit for the least painful, and most relaxing, January 1 possible.

COFFEE

This one should be a no brainer. Coffee is the life blood in almost any day, and especially on those days when you’re short on sleep. But when you’re extra tired (for those who made it long past the ball drop) coffee can’t come soon enough. So we recommend the Starbucks VIA Instant coffee, which is ready to go in a snap! Just add awesome flavors like Peppermint Mocha to hot water and you’re on your way to a whole new you.

HIT RESTART

Give your face, and mood, a boost by hitting a beauty restart button first thing in the new year. Our #1 pick for the new year is The Jojoba Company’s Overnight Renewal Cream. It’s 100% Natural and you can put it on when you get home on New Years Eve, or even right when you wake up. It’s cool and calming and leaves your skin nice and plump.

If you’re looking for something more intensive, we love the new Magic Skin Trilogy from our friend Charlotte Tilbury for quick renewal. She’s had an amazingly successful 2015, including being named InStyle’s Makeup Artist of the Year, so you can trust her to lead you into a beautiful 2016.

HAIR OF THE DOG

There is no shame in counter-acting the effects of alcohol with a hair of the dog, and our favorite version is the classic mimosa. While your face mask sets, or as you write out your New Years Resolutions, throw a little OJ and Freixenet Cordon Brut into a glass and slowly sip your way to a happier you.

BATHTIME

You’ve made it out of the woods, but it’s time for some relaxation now. Recharge with a nice bath and a good book. We recommend putting just a few table spoons of Epsom salt into the bath with you, which can help relax your muscles and ease any aches or pains. Combine that with a good book – we loved The Nightingale and Girl on the Train – and you’re going to come out clean and refreshed.

NETFLIX AND CHILL

This activity isn’t just for couples! So if it’s just you, you and your roommates or you and your guy, it’s time for a little binge watching. From the romance of Pride & Prejudice to laughs with the new season of Parks & Rec to some heart racing fun with 2 Fast 2 Furious, there is a lot of fun coming to Netflix in January. Pull on those now-infamous Netflix socks and hunker down for a few hours of recharging.

BACK TO BED

There is no better cure for a hangover, or any ailment really, than just heading back to bed so make it an early night. First have a small, healthy snack like berries or even cheese and crackers to make sure you won’t wake up starving, or with a stomach ache. Then cuddle down for a full night’s sleep!

MORE COFFEE

Have you made it successfully to January 2nd? Good for you! Pour yourself another cup of that VIA coffee (Caramel Latte is our current fave) and get out there to hit the gym, try and new class or whatever is first on your New Years Resolution list.
