Good Cause: A Simple Way You can Help Women in Need this Month

As odd as it can feel to kick up a conversation about periods, that’s what we’re going to do here today. Because we recently came across a cause that we think is both important an under-served. While women in homeless shelters typically have access to food, clothing, and toiletries, there’s a major shortage on one important necessity that most of us completely take for granted: period products like pads and tampons. And for any woman to not have all of the tampons (and all of the advil and all of the soft pretzels) during her ol’ time of the month is just plain wrong, because it’s bad enough to have to deal with PMS when you DO have these things.

To help raise awareness and money that will allow homeless women to maintain both their comfort and their dignity, Kotex has created the first ever national period products donation drive, #powertotheperiod, which will benefit homeless women and women’s shelters around the country. The campaign was inspired by a woman named Holly Sanchez, who took to Twitter when she learned that period products were often lacking in homeless shelters.

The good news is that it it’s easy to help. You can donate to the Kotex #PowertothePeriod campaign, and learn more about their ongoing Period Projects series by clicking here.

* This post was sponsored by Kotex, but we are excited to support this cause.
